Port Dickson or PD to locals is a beach and holiday destination situated about 32 km from Seremban and 90 km from Kuala Lumpur. It is located in the state of Negeri Sembilan in Peninsular Malaysia. The in-charge officer's name was Dickson, and thereafter the town was named Port Dickson. Others claim that Sir John Frederick Dickson founded Port Dickson and Pulau Arang in 1889.
Port Dickson evolved into a busy trading centre. Railways were constructed to facilitate the growth and development of Port Dickson. Although Port Dickson experienced rapid development, the beautiful beaches are fairly well preserved. Now, Port Dickson has become not only a beautiful tourist destination, but a large municipality with about 89,000 residents. The 18 km extent of beach from Tanjung Gemuk to Tanjung Tuan is a popular holiday destination for visitors coming as far as those from Kuala Lumpur itself.
In the 1990s Port Dickson boomed with new hotels and resorts being planned and constructed. Due to the Asian financial crisis of 1997 however, many of these projects stalled, leaving many unfinished buildings scattered along the Port Dickson coastline. While some of these half constructed resorts are still abandoned, with the improving economy of the 2000's many of the projects were revived and completed.
In September 2009, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak declared that Port Dickson shall be known as "Army Town" in recognition of her role in the nation's military services. This announcement came during a time when the adjacent town of Bagan Pinang was in preparation for a by-election.
Port Dickson is among the tourist attractions in Negeri Sembilan. A key factor for this coast to be visited by many foreign tourists and local people may be because this is the only beach in Negeri Sembilan. Furthermore, the close proximity between Port Dickson and states vicinity such as Malacca and Selangor also contributes to this city's development.

We booked this hotel at the last minute, (the night before) using this website. Having been to Port Dickson before we were not overly excited, until we arrived at the entrance to the hotel. From that moment every part of our 4 days was perfect! The accommodation, staff, food and facilities were top notch. Very clean, beautiful gardens and grounds. We loved the adult only pool plus they have an amazing spa building out at sea!

The pool is superb, well kept and according to the staff is open 24 hours which is very convenient for early birds hoping to catch a swim. It is slightly far to walk from the lobby to the chalet though but I think that is probably the only con I found! Overall, my stay was lovely and I'd recomend it without doubt.

Are travelling through Malaysia, we decided to End our trip at Avillion. It is actually more close to the airport than KL is. Checking in takes rediculously long but the people are nice. We are in a waterfront chalet which is truly very nice. The chalet is big enough for 2 adults and 2 children of 12 and 12. We actually didn't see them much as there is really a lot to do for them. The pool is nice but need vacuming more often. The restaurant is ok. Not really 5*, but it's a resort after all.

My wife, daughter and I had a 3 night stay here in a Water Chalet room. We got a very good package for 2 nights, but unfortunately they wouldn't give us this rate for the 3rd night which was a bit mean, and meant we had to pay the full rate for 1 night. In fact we weren't even able to check in for the 3 nights at once, and had to go back to check in for the third night. In fact their check in and checkout staff were pretty vague. Otherwise we really loved the place. The room was huge and well situated half over the beach and half over water in the last row of chalets to the north. very clean, big bed and a lovely window bed for our daughter. The gardens are beautiful as were the 2 swimming pools. The buffet breakfast was always tasty and lots of food, but maybe they could have more variety and more local dishes and sweets. Great rotis though. Other facilities were good and well maintained. We'll remember this place for short breaks as it isn't far from KLIA and LCCT and would be a good place to break longer journeys. The pet farm is great, especially the bunnies, they seemed so happy and my daughter loved feeding them. Just watch out for the sandflies on the beach at sunset, we were itchy for a week!

After much long decisions torn between legend water homes n avillion we decided to go for avillion n gave it a shot . We wanted a short escapade to relax n beautiful atmosphere to laze around n boy we were very pleased wiz our stay! From de pool to de beach to de sea activities, to karaoke, breakfast, clealiness of de resort for our comfort when we having our stroll, service and our rooms all were superb! No flies or sand fly issue which freak me out after reading de past reviews.. We book 2 family packages n took 4 rooms. Our time were very well filled up with the line-up itenery. We were even more glad dat we went for the sunset cruise which left us wiz more fondable memories.. We will be back and make Avillion as our family gateway anytime we need a short escapade frm de bustling city.

Hubby, baby daughter and I took the trip from KL to PD for a very2 last minute vacay, booking a garden chalet just 4 hrs prior to check in at 3pm. when we arrived at 3.30pm, there was a long queue at the check in counter..service was rather slow despite having 3 counters. that made the small lobby really crowded. some guests couldnt get into their rooms even after checking in as the rooms were not ready. believe they hv manpower issue. parking area was also limited, compared to the number of rooms they have. some guests had to park their cars across the road, and at a neighbouring parking area that looked like a funfair site, un-tarred. our room was nice and decent. love the pangkin bed. everythig about the room
was satisfactory except for the smell when we first turned the aircond on, and some fine sands on the floor..facilities were adequate

its was my day, i have a very good welcome from the staff, smile,helping with my bags. a professional check in, and nice room. this is a first visit which i'm impress. i and my another half feel very happy, relax until my mood to dine was spoil. the chinese restaurant, if dont have a proper service and a quality chinese chef, dont opened. closed the stupid restaurant change to other type of cuisine. service very bad, the food..sorry to say but i think they need to go to shanghai. the manager said the restaurant have won an award but what i see,i
taste.. i try all the restaurant that they have, just avoid the chinese restaurant. others ok. the coffee house,FRESH ok just lack of staff. the chefs good, helping me in making my choice. .just his face a bit serious.hahaha.. anyhow staying in thistle PD was a very relaxing,enjoyable with BIG POOL...for sure i will come back.

I went to Thistle PD during weekends with a couple of friends. Overall, we love this hotel so much because of cleanliness and friendly staff. We went to see the live band at CUMULUS and I must say we love the environment with friendly staffs. Also we love the Chinese food at CHINOSE....super yummy!!! and we definitely will come back to this hotel plus it's value for money.

Had very good moments with my family especially at the beach and the swimming pool. Friendly hotel staff, strategic location as the hotel is near some good eateries particularly seafood.
However, a restaurant to avoid is Restaurant Top Seafood - bad and slow service, fish and prawns were not fresh. Cooking was so so.
A particularly good restaurant namely Restaurant Lucky is located some 30mins away at Lukut, where they sell curry chicken bun (RM25), and crab (RM45 per kg) but both were very nice. Total price RM111 for 4 adults and 2 toddlers. Overall was worth it.

Had a lot of fun in Cumulus on Christmas Eve, the free goody bag was an excellent touch and the band ensured that everyone was up dancing. The wiaters were attentive even though the bar was extremely busy. The christmas lunch in the restaurant was nice and we all enjoyed the turkey - made a pleasant change. Checking out was a bit slow but there were a lot of people all at same time.
